“The offence of producing, distributing, selling and possession of fictitious and counterfeit postal products is punishable under Section 65 of the Postal Services Act 2012 when if convicted, is liable to a fine of up to RM500,000 or imprisonment for up to 5 years or both,” said a Pos Malaysia’s spokesperson.
He then added “Pos Malaysia has also requested the assistance of Polis Di Raja Malaysia (PDRM) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to help identify, nab the culprits and bring an end to this illegal activity which has had a huge impact on the company’s business.”
A special task force has been set up in the last few months to investigate into the possibility of a network engaged in the sale and distribution of conterfeit Poslaju prepaid envelopes in the country. Currently, the investigation has seized a total of 1,300 pieces of fake Poslaju envelopes of various sizes.
