Did you know? The size of your parcel matters when it comes to the shipping rate.
Without a doubt, measure your shipping box is a key step in accurately quoting your shipping rates. Never put yourself at risk by simply key in a random weight as this will result in misdeclared weight and lead to extra charges. So, it’s best to get your dimensions right to avoid surcharges!
The first rule above all is to grab a measuring tape and take all the important dimensions: length, width and height of your box. And then, you can make use of our Volumetric Calculator to know the volumetric weight of your shipping box. Let us guide you further below!
How To Measure Length, Height & Width
Of A Shipping Box?
#1 – Measure Length For Your Shipping Box
Grab a measuring tape and find the longest side of your box. Next, hold your measuring tape to the edge of the longest side to find the total length from end to end. You can round up the length measurement to the nearest inch or centimeter (cm). Record it down so that you can calculate the volumetric weight with accurate dimensions!
#2 – Measure Height For Your Shipping Box
To measure the height of your shipping box, hold your measuring tape vertical up in the air (which is the standing side of your shipping box). The same goes for length, you can round up the the nearest inch or centimeter (cm), and then record the number.
#3 – Measure Width For Your Shipping Box
The width is the shortest side of your box. To measure the width of your box, turn your measuring tool 90 degrees from the length side. Record the dimensions from one edge to the other, as you’ll need it later to calculate the volumetric weight.
Use Volumetric Calculator To Do The Math
Step 1: Go to “Single Parcel” in your dashboard.
Step 2: Click on the calculator icon next to the weight column.
Step 3: Key in width, length and height in cm.
Step 4: Once you’ve clicked on the “Calculate” button, the volumetric weight will be shown in kg.
